Serendipity Strikes at the Intersection of Art and Service

Least Among Saints, an independent film that centers on the journey of a combat veteran’s return home to the country he so bravely served and his path to redemption through his compassion and service to an orphaned boy, has attracted the support of Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA). VOALA’s central message to Veterans is that we all possess innate health. The call to Veterans is that support is available through VOALA’s multitude of programs and that VOALA has the means to help these men and woman apply their strengths to rebuild their lives now that they are back home.  This, too, is the central message at the heart of the film, Least Among Saints, who’s main character demonstrates through his compassion and courage how to trudge the road back to personal redemption after having experienced the traumas of war.

VOALA has joined forces with the filmmakers in an attempt to deliver their shared message to the world – a message of hope, redemption, and the return to our true selves. The parallel mission statements of the production team and this service organization has melded together with a common goal: to reach out to the world, to tell a story of compassion and healing through service, and to create awareness that VOALA is ready and willing to provide such service to those who protect us.

The practical aims are to create a mutually beneficial relationship through cross promotion in order to carry this message to the world.  The plan calls for an aggressive press campaign, seeking the support of industry professionals, celebrities, and top political organizations who share the same goals and to encourage their support and endorsement. Furthermore, the filmmakers have created a business model in which, as the film generates profits, a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to VOALA to create a philanthropic investment on the part of those who support and view the film.

It is the hope of the filmmakers and VOALA that through the essence of storytelling, they are able to reach into the hearts and minds of those who experience the journey taken by the movie’s central character as he finds his own redemption and healing.  Audiences seeing the film have experienced just such a journey. Ultimately it will not be only veterans, but anyone, from any walk of life, who is feeling alone, hurt, isolated, beaten up and broken down in this great country of ours, can realize that there is hope in the simple act of caring for others; that there are people willing and ready to offer support; and that sometimes the darkest hour is just before the dawn.
